Welcome to PAMHCA!
President's Welcome:
Welcome to PAMHCA (The Pennsylvania
Mental Health Counselor Association) – and to our new website! PAMHCA’s
mission is to help members be better informed about issues related
to licensure, and legislative, ethical and professional issues that
affect you as counselors and students and the clients with whom
you work. PAMHCA was reactivated in January, 2006 and re-energized
by a new Board of Directors. We’re here to move the field of counseling
forward!

A Busy Year:
The past year has been very busy, and
we have accomplished a great deal:
- Elected a new Board of Directors.
- Updated our membership list.
- Held regional meetings in PA. with members to get feedback for
our mission.
- Revised PAMHCA by-laws which were approved by PCA Executive
Board.
- Affiliation and collaboration with AMHCA (American Mental Health
Counselors Association; ACA (American Counseling Association);
PCA (Pennsylvania Counseling Association); and PACP (Pennsylvania
Alliance of Counseling Professionals).
- PAMHCA was represented at the PCA annual conference in October,
2006.
- Nicki Covey our treasurer received PCA's Gradate Student of
the Year Award for 2006.
- Revised membership dues and membership data made available on
the PCA website.
- Opened a bank account for PAMHCA.
- Wrote and received funds for a grant from ACA for our Treasurer
to attend the ACA Legislative Institute in Feb., 2007 to become
effective legislative advocates for Pennsylvania Counselors at
the state and federal levels. A quarterly. publication titled:
Mental Health Imitative was instituted by our treasurer.
- Revised the membership form and began an intensive membership
drive to increase membership and develop internships with graduate
students in Pennsylvania.
- Developed a web-site for members.
- Planning on finding a presenter for CEU credits for members
staring in the Fall, 2007.
- Preparing outreaches to the media for Mental Health Week May
7-13th.
