PAMHCA Leadership Opportunities

Be the change you want to see in the counseling profession!!

PAMHCA is currently seeking dedicated board members,
committee chairs and committee members to join the PAMHCA team.

Cheers for California and cheers for Mental Health Counselors nationwide! With the vote of the California Senate and the signature of that state's Governor, California has now joined the other 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico in licensing masters-degreed mental health counselors. With this recognition comes the responsibility of offering to our clients the best possible help we can. By continuing education, by peer supervision, by active membership and participation in organizations, such as PAMHCA, mental health counselors really can be the best that they can be! Continuing the leadership of Mary Ann Baron, our current President, I, as the soon-to-be President, will work with you, our current and future members, to advocate for mental health counselors, whose mission is to support, encourage and advocate for our clients! -John Flynn

A Call to Leadership in PAMHCA

Can you support a mission to enhance the profession of mental health counseling? Do you believe in the power and importance of advocacy, licensing, education and professional development? Have you been waiting for the right opportunity to commit yourself more fully to your profession and professional career? If so, PAMHCA has a role for you – in leadership.

PAMHCA is currently seeking nominations for Officer and Board Member positions. Serving in these roles can be professionally and personally rewarding. You will learn more about PAMHCA, its history and mission. You will have the opportunity to represent PAMHCA at meetings of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association (PCA) and the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and serve as its voice in those settings. You will appear in schools and elsewhere to speak with Graduate Students about PAMHCA and its services. And throughout your tenure you will meet and interact with the leadership of other mental health organizations and with educators, practitioners and students from across Pennsylvania. Your service in a leadership role will provide you with valuable information, contacts, perspective and, importantly, fun - all this, while you support the only organization dedicated exclusively to mental health counselors in Pennsylvania.

Check out the nomination form. This could be the time.

Jack Flynn, President-Elect, comments on his PAMHCA leadership role…

Recently I saw a billboard for the US Marines that said, "A commitment to something greater than themselves" and I thought  that this is the reason why any of us volunteers to make the world a better place because of our being here. It is probably why any of us has entered the counseling profession.

Being a part of PAMHCA leadership gives me the opportunity to work with and encourage other mental health counselors in the healing and hope-giving work that we do, often unseen and under-appreciated, but nonetheless essential not only for our clients but also for their families, friends and community. Consider volunteering for one of the leadership offices in PAMHCA and help make a difference for other mental health counselors in Pennsylvania. I am convinced that my work with PAMHCA has contributed to my professional growth and personal commitment to a cause greater than myself.
